French Open Final: Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek Claims Third Consecutive Title at Roland Garros

Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek triumphed in the 2024 French Open women's singles final on Saturday, defeating Jasmine Paolini with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory. The 23-year-old ÅšwiÄ…tek secured her 21st consecutive match win at Roland Garros, capturing her third straight French Open singles title. She dominated the match, winning 11 of the last 12 games.

Paolini, 28, struggled against ÅšwiÄ…tek's formidable play, committing 15 unforced errors. Despite an early 2-1 lead in the first set, the Italian could not maintain her momentum against the world No. 1.

ÅšwiÄ…tek, now a five-time Grand Slam champion, dropped just one set throughout the tournament. She joins an elite group of women in the Open Era to win the French Open three consecutive years, alongside Monica Seles (1990-92) and Justine Henin (2005-07). Furthermore, ÅšwiÄ…tek joins Henin (4), Steffi Graf (6), and Chris Evert (7) as the only women to win the Roland Garros singles title four times. At 23, she is the youngest to achieve this milestone.
